AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – ASML, the Dutch semiconductor equipment supplier that is Europe’s largest technology company, said on Tuesday it supports a proposal by the European Commission to help boost the continent’s computer chip manufacturing capacity.
In a position paper, ASML said it “strongly supports” the plan aimed at securing extra funding for the chip industry and cutting the bloc’s dependence on U.S. and Asian companies..
ASML, a key supplier to Intel and other major chipmakers, noted the Act should not only focus on chip production but other parts of the technology chain, from components to products.
