(Bloomberg) — Bank of America Corp. rehired Madhu Kannan as an executive vice chair of global corporate and investment banking.
Kannan “will be responsible for advising our global clients and developing new opportunities and driving growth of new relationships across various sectors, with a focus on clients in the broader technology space,” Vice Chairman Purna Saggurti said in an internal memo seen by Bloomberg News.
Kannan will partner with Sam Powers, head of global technology, media and telecom investment banking, as well as Ric Spencer and Johnny Williams, co-heads of global technology investment banking, Saggurti said. New York-based Kannan will also help with BofA’s efforts with venture firms and growth companies in India and emerging markets, and report to Saggurti.
A BofA spokesman confirmed the memo’s contents and declined to comment further.
Kannan most recently served as global head of corporate development and capital markets at Uber Technologies Inc., and before that worked for Tata Sons Ltd. in India. He also held the role of chief executive officer of the Bombay Stock Exchange.
He worked at Merrill Lynch between 2008 and 2009, his LinkedIn profile shows.
