Indonesia delays carbon tax to around July – finance ministry

JAKARTA (Reuters) – Indonesia “sees room” to delay a tax on coal power plants’ carbon emissions to around July to ensure regulations regarding the new levy are consistent with plans for a carbon market, a finance ministry official said on Monday.

Febrio Kacaribu, the ministry’s head of fiscal policy office, said the government wants to prepare “comprehensive” regulations for the carbon market. The government was originally supposed to roll out the carbon tax in April.
