BANGKOK (Reuters) – Thailand plans to extend the existing scheme to support domestic travel to September from May in a bid to boost its vital tourism sector, the Thai Chamber of Commerce said on Friday.

The plan, approved by a meeting of the country’s economic task force chaired by Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, includes a 40% government subsidy on another 1 million room nights, Sanan Angubolkul, chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement after the meeting.
