Hong Kong’s April-June unemployment eases to 4.7%, outlook seen improving

HONG KONG (Reuters) – Hong Kong’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate eased to 4.7% in the April-June quarter, thanks to an easing in the COVID situation, a relaxation of social distancing and support from a consumption voucher scheme, the government said on Tuesday.

In the March-May period, the unemployment rate stood at 5.1%.

“As domestic economic activities continue to revive, the labour market is likely to improve further in the near term,” the government said, adding measures rolled out by the government would provide support for recovery of the local economy.
