Speak to anyone who has gone to work in the United States or has dealt with a US-based business, and you’ll find that getting paid is a culture shock, writes Arthur Goldstuck for Business Times (for subscribers).

In many ways, the US banking system is lagging behind the technological advances made by South African financial institutions with “many US-based businesses still insist on making payments via paper cheque, which must be mailed to the payee.”

It is fascinating to learn that the grass is not always greener on the other side and as Goldstuck points out innovation in Africa comes from filling a need while in the US, Silicon Valley types innovate out of an opportunity.

Turning to politics and Ralph Mathekga writes that given there is an upcoming impeachment process against President Cyril Ramaphosa for his involvement in the Phala Phala farm robbery, the ANC should consider what a post-Ramaphosa leadership would look like no matter what way the impeachment process goes.
