South Africa’s Five Roses tea owner AVI reports rise in annual profit

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) – South African food producer and fashion retailer AVI Ltd reported on Monday a rise of 6.1% in full-year earnings, boosted by improved sales volumes in key categories and price increases to ameliorate significant cost pressures.

The company, whose brands include Bakers biscuits, Five Roses tea and Spitz footwear, said headline earnings per share, the main profit measure in South Africa, rose to 530.6 cents in the year ended June 30.

The company declared a final dividend of 292 cents per share.
