Eskom board members told there is a shake-up ahead

After nearly three weeks of load shedding, minister of public enterprises Pravin Gordhan said on Tuesday that there would soon be a reconstitution of the Eskom board. The board has been without its full complement of 15 members for some time and has in the past begged government to fill the vacant seats with those that have engineering expertise. The Second Coming — what’s behind Jacob Zuma’s return to ANC elective lists?

Jacob Zuma wants back into active politics and has thrown his name into the ring to be the ANC’s next national chairperson but whether his bid will succeed is anyone’s guess at this point. The former president has thrown his support behind his ex-wife Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma for party president as he did in 2017 but the KZN ANC has already decided to go a different route and will back former health minister Zweli Mkhize. Mkhize is himself embroiled in the Digital Vibes scandal. (Daily Maverick)

Mosebenzi Zwane expected in court on Wednesday over Vrede dairy farm scandal

Former cabinet minister and known Gupta family associate Mosebenzi Zwane is set to appear at the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, in connection with the alleged Vrede Dairy Project scandal. The alleged scam, reportedly saw millions of rands earmarked for the empowerment of poor black farmers siphoned off to the Gupta family network. The case forms part of the nine “seminal” cases the National Prosecuting Authority head Shamila Batohi spoke about in May. (News24)
