HARARE (Reuters) – Zimbabwe sees next year’s budget deficit at 1.4% of gross domestic product (GDP) compared to 1.5% this year, Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube said on Friday during a presentation to lawmakers.
Ncube said government revenue was projected at 3.1 trillion Zimbabwe dollars in 2023, with expenditure of 3.4 trillion.
Around 24% of total spending would be capital expenditure and around 45% employees’ compensation.
The finance minister’s presentation also showed GDP growth of 5.0% was forecast next year, versus 4.6% in 2022.
