Jacob Zuma unlikely to see prison cell soon – Business Day
The Supreme Court of Appeal ruled on Monday that Jacob Zuma’s release from a 15-month prison sentence on medical parole was unlawful and that the former president should return to prison. It is unlikely that the former ANC head honcho will see the inside of a prison cell any time soon as the court did not indicate whether Zuma’s stay at home counted towards his jail time. Cape taxi strike: Union won’t back down as violence erupts – News24
As thousands of commuters were left stranded on Monday, violence erupted after taxi operators torched a MyCiti bus as part of an ongoing taxi strike. The strike action follows the Western Cape government’s decision to shut down its Blue Dot taxi project. The South African National Taxi Association (Santaco), which is spearheading the strike action, said it would not back down from the strike but condemned the violence. The union said any violence perpetrated by its members was done of their own accord. Read more here.
Musk says Twitter to hold off relaunching blue check verification – Daily Maverick
In another twist in Elon Musk’s ownership of Twitter thus far, the world’s richest man has backtracked on his decision to relaunch blue check verification this week. Musk said via a tweet that the latest delay was made to ensure that no one could use the service to impersonate. The rush to launch the $8 verification service earlier this month led to a slew of fake accounts that Twitter had to act on. Read more here.
