MILAN (Reuters) -Italy’s Banca Sella fully restored online services after 3 million customers including those of its jointly-owned digital bank Hype lost access to accounts this past week.
The regional bank identified the cause of the disruption and implemented actions required to solve the problem, it said in an online statement late on Thursday.
Sella will consider reimbursing customers who have suffered damages, a spokesperson said, without giving further details.
The lender had said that the outage was caused by an IT issue following an update of the operating system, provided by Oracle, a supplier for the group for more than 20 years, and was not related to cybersecurity issues.
Oracle had no immediate comment.
The use of payment cards was not affected and in past days the bank extended opening hours at its branches to allow customers to carry out cash transactions and payments.
Banca Sella has around 1.3 million customers. Hype, a joint venture with lender illimity, has around 1.7 million customers.
