UK’s John Lewis says finance boss to step down later this year

(Reuters) – Britain’s John Lewis Partnership said on Tuesday that finance director Berangere Michel will step down from her role later this year, after 16 years at the retailer.

The move comes weeks after the employee-owned company named former Tesco executive Jason Tarry as its next chairman, following Sharon White’s decision to step down.

Last month, the owner of John Lewis department stores and the Waitrose supermarket chain reported a return to annual profit after three years, thanks to improved trading in its food business and cost savings.

The company said Michel is expected to leave by autumn.

The executive took on the role in 2021 and previously held senior roles across retail, supply chain and customer operations at the company.
