VW’s MAN and E.ON cooperate on electric truck charging

FRANKFURT (Reuters) – German energy company E.ON and Volkswagen subsidiary MAN Truck & Bus on Thursday unveiled plans to set up an electric charging network for trucks in Germany and Europe, to help cut emissions and achieve environmentally sustainable logistics.

While electromobility has already reached the mass market in passenger cars, zero-emission trucks with electric drive are still rare on Europe’s roads.

Europe has set itself the goal of reducing emissions from heavy commercial vehicles by 90 percent by 2040 compared with 2019.
