Shanghai bourse’s vice general manager under investigation by anti graft watchdog

BEIJING (Reuters) -The Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) deputy general manager, Dong Guoqun, is under investigation, China’s anti-graft watchdog said on Friday.

Dong is being investigated over suspected serious violations of laws and discipline, according to a statement on the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) website.

The SSE did not immediately reply to a Reuters request for comment.

Dong, 59, has served at the Shanghai bourse for more than two decades and was promoted to deputy general manager in 2019.

China in recent years has intensified its campaign to expose corruption and illegal dealings in the finance sector, with some former senior finance officials expelled from the Communist party or charged with bribery.

In October 2023, Liu Ti, a former deputy vice general manager of the SSE, was removed from public office over alleged bribery after he was put under investigation in April 2023.
