Italy posts 5.065 billion euros trade surplus in June

(Reuters) – Italy posted a trade surplus with the rest of the world of 5.065 billion euros ($5.53 billion) in June, compared with a surplus of 3.461 billion euros in the same month of 2023, data showed on Friday.

Exports fell 6.1% year-on-year, and imports fell 9.6%, national statistics office ISTAT reported.

With European Union countries, Italy registered a June trade deficit of 1.045 billion euros, compared with a deficit of 1.805 billion euros in 2023.

Exports to EU nations in June were down 7.2% year-on-year, compared to a fall of 9.2% in imports.
