Carmaker GM supports Mexico’s push to strengthen regional supply chains

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – U.S. automaker General Motors said on Thursday that it fully supported the Mexican government’s push to strengthen supply chains in the region, though it declined to “respond to speculation about future plans.”

Mexico’s deputy economy minister had said on Wednesday that GM and Taiwanese tech giant Foxconn would announce plans to swap out imports to Mexico for production in the country later this month.
