FRANKFURT (Reuters) – Siemens Gamesa, the wind division of Siemens Energy, has won a turbine order worth more than 1 billion pounds ($1.3 billion) to supply the East Anglia TWO offshore wind farm of Iberdrola’s ScottishPower, the companies said.
Siemens Gamesa will supply 64 of its flagship SG 14-236 DD offshore wind turbines to the project located 33 km off the Suffolk coast in the southern North Sea, they.
The turbine’s blades will be made at Siemens Gamesa’s factory in Hull.
Once completed, East Anglia TWO, which is worth a total 4 billion pounds, will have capacity of 960 megawatts (MW), enough to power nearly one million homes.
