BEIJING (Reuters) – Du Zhaocai, the former deputy head of China’s General Administration of Sport, has been sentenced to 14 years and fined 4 million yuan ($550,000) for taking bribes, Chinese state media reported on Friday.
The move is part of China’s crackdown on corruption in soccer.
Earlier on Friday, former Everton midfielder and national team coach Li Tie was sentenced to 20 years in prison for giving and receiving bribes.
