Indonesia orders developer MNC Land to halt project linked to Trump, state media says

JAKARTA (Reuters) – Indonesia’s environment ministry has ordered property firm PT MNC Land to halt development of a Lido tourism project affiliated with President Donald Trump over a water management issue, state news agency Antara reported on Thursday.

The Lido project includes a planned golf club and hotel that will be operated by the Trump Organization.

PT MNC Land and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The 3,000 hectare (7413.16 acres) integrated resort is located about 60 km (37.3 miles) south of capital Jakarta in the Bogor area.

The ministry found that MNC Land as the developer did not manage rain water well, causing sedimentation and shallowness of a lake near the resort, said the environment minister, Hanif Faisol according to Antara.

Another reason provided was that the project development did not follow requirements identified in an earlier assessment of its impact on the environment and local communities.

A movie studio called Movieland and a music and arts centre were also expected to be built in the area.
