(Reuters) -Greek Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis and his Belgian peer Vincent Van Peteghem have put themselves forward as candidates to become president of the Eurogroup, the European Council said on Friday.
The Eurogroup, the assembly of finance ministers from the countries that use the euro, will elect its president at its next meeting on December 11.
The post opened up after Paschal Donohoe resigned as Irish finance minister and Eurogroup president last week to take up a senior World Bank role.
