RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec 10 (Reuters) – Workers at Brazilian state-run oil company Petrobras will kick off a strike on Monday, their union said in a statement on Wednesday.
The move comes as workers deemed the company’s second counteroffer for a labor agreement “insufficient,” according to the statement released by the FUP union.
Petrobras and its workers have been in an ongoing dispute over a deficit in the retirement fund and a push for changes to the employee compensation structure.
Petrobras said negotiations are ongoing and that in case of a strike it will adopt contingency measures to keep operations running.
In May, FUP announced a two-day strike, only to call it off a day before it was set to start after Petrobras sent a proposal to settle a dispute over pay and working conditions.
