MADRID (Reuters) – Romanian telecoms company DIGI has hired investment bank Rothschild to evaluate a possible share listing for its Spanish business on the Madrid exchange, newspaper Expansion reported on Friday, citing unidentified market sources.
DIGI’s Spanish business could be worth about 2.5 billion euros ($2.93 billion), the newspaper said.
DIGI declined to comment, although a spokesperson said the company is “not for sale” and intends to remain in Spain in the long run.
DIGI’s expansion in Spain has accelerated after it took over assets sold by larger operators Orange and MasMovil when they merged last year. It now has 9.6 million customers in Spain, its website says.
Rothschild declined to comment.
