BERLIN, Dec 5 (Reuters) – Germany’s parliament passed a contentious pensions bill on Friday after a threat by lawmakers within Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s conservatives to veto it had underscored his lack of control of his own party.
The bill passed with 319 votes in favour, indicating that Merz had managed to retain an absolute majority.
