South Africa woke up to a golden start to the end of the week with Tatjana Schoenmaker winning the women’s 200m breaststroke gold medal in world-record time, making history at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The rand is on the front foot and our mining giants are returning billions of rands to shareholders and propping up government coffers.
On the Covid vaccinations front, inoculations are going swimmingly with seven million people having already received jabs against Covid, and more than 1,500 health volunteers on board to help with vaccination on weekends at various sites across the country. The 5.66 million Pfizer vaccines from the US is also arriving from Sunday and will feed into the government’s own vaccine delivery system.
And last night, the country’s leading online news publisher News24 and journalist Tammy Petersen both scooped gold at the 13th annual IAB Bookmark Awards.
