Hydrogen May Be the Jet Fuel of the Future

(Bloomberg) — Air travel remains one of the big conundrums when it comes to cutting back on the burning of fossil fuels. While hydrogen has long been touted as a clean solution in many sectors, its usefulness aloft has been hindered by certain limitations. In this episode of Bloomberg’s Accelerate, we show how the race to use hydrogen fuel cells—or just hydrogen itself—to fly planes is speeding up. But making such technology work for commercial airliners, transporting it at scale and potential atmospheric side-effects must still be addressed.
