TUNIS (Reuters) – Tunisia’s bill for gas purchases from Algeria’s Sonatrach may reach 4.5 billion dinars ($1.5 billion) this year while its domestic and foreign consumption bill could reach $2.6 billion with prices rising sharply, an energy ministry official told Reuters on Thursday.
Belhassen Chiboub, the ministry’s director of energy transition, added that Tunisia has a differential price agreement with Algeria, but if the current global price is adopted the bill from Algeria would rise from 3 billion dinars expected this year to 4.5 billion.
