BEIJING (Reuters) – Beijing reported 94 new domestically transmitted COVID-19 infections for the 24 hours to 3 p.m. (0700 GMT) on Sunday, up from 63 cases a day earlier, a disease control official in the Chinese capital said.

Of those, 77 were in controlled areas and 17 were found through community screening, Liu Xiaofeng, deputy director at Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control, told a news briefing.

The city has had 1,493 COVID infections since April 22, Liu said.
