Kenya parliament approves raising of debt ceiling to 10 trln shillings – speaker

NAIROBI (Reuters) – Kenya’s lawmakers have approved the raising of the public debt ceiling to 10 trillion shillings ($85.6 billion) from 9 trillion shillings, the parliament’s speaker said on Tuesday.

“I put the question … that this house approves the Public Finance Management Amendment regulations … that the public debt shall not exceed 10 trillion shillings,” Speaker Justin Muturi, said to lawmakers, who voted in favour by acclamation.
