Malala writes the ANC has abandoned the people of SA and the reason for the recent rioting in Kagiso and Tembisa is that residents have lost faith in the police service.
While Malala argues that in four years as police minister Bheki Cele has done little to bring down the crime rate or create a police service equipped to do more than just push admin from behind the comfort of a desk.
The political commentator writes that opposition parties need to find a way to work together and settle points of difference so that they can deliver a united campaign effort when we head to the polls in 2024.
Siboniso Duma’s rise to power as ANC KwaZulu-Natal chairperson – Daily Maverick
Many were surprised when Siboniso Duma rose to power during the recent KwaZulu-Natal provincial elective conference.
Not only did Duma oust the incumbent KZN chairperson Sihle Zikalala, who was also the province’s premier at the time (Zikalala has since resigned the premiership), but his entire slate was elected to the KZN ANC top brass.
Chris Makhaye takes a look at the remarkable rise of Duma to become ANC KZN chairperson and how the new provincial leader is no slouch in the political realm.
Makhaye writes that Duma learnt the political dark arts during his time in the ANC youth league and while serving within the KZN youth league there were many bust-ups with the Julius Malema-led national youth league.
