China’s Geely expresses disappointment in EU tariff decision, vows ‘necessary measures’ to safeguard rights

BEIJING (Reuters) – Chinese automaker Geely on Thursday expressed “great disappointment” in the European Union’s decision to increase tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles, vowing “all necessary measures” to safeguard its legitimate rights.

“We call on the European Commission to carefully consider its decision, listen to the concerns of all parties, and work together to find a solution that promotes fair competition, whilst creating a constructive environment for long-term sustainable development,” it said in a statement.

Geely would be subject to a 20% additional duty rate from next month as Brussels decided on additional tariffs ranging from 17.4% for BYD to 38.1% for SAIC , on top of the existing 10% car duty.
