China’s central bank suspends gold purchases for a third month

(Corrects month in gold reserves to at the end July, not at the end of May)

BEIJING (Reuters) – China’s gold holdings stood at 72.8 million fine troy ounces at the end of July, unchanged from the end of June and for a third consecutive month, central bank data showed on Wednesday.

The value of China’s gold reserves grew to $176.64 billion at the end of July from $169.7 billion at the end of June. (This story has been corrected to fix the month in gold reserves from ‘at the end of May’ to ‘at the end of July’, in paragraph 2)
