Thailand working on transmission charges for multilateral power deal, Singapore says

SINGAPORE (Reuters) – Singapore is waiting to finalise details on transmission charges for the multilateral power trade agreement with Laos, Thailand and Malaysia, the chief executive of Singapore’s power industry regulator told Reuters on Wednesday.

“The whole LTMS setup is still there. Right now there are certain details being worked out,” Puah Kok Keong, Chief Executive officer at Energy Market Authority (EMA) told Reuters on the sidelines of the Singapore International Energy Week conference (SIEW).

“For example, wheeling charges can be imposed by various parties, so we are waiting for that to be finalised by Thai authorities,” he said.

Wheeling charges refer to cost imposed for the transmission of electricity through a grid.
