Equinor says gas delivery remains unaffected by Sleipner fields incidents

OSLO (Reuters) – Norway’s Equinor continues to meet its gas supply commitments to Europe following two recent security incidents at its Sleipner field in the North Sea, the company said on Friday.

Equinor on Tuesday said gas production from the Sleipner B platform was shut following a smoke alert in an electrical facility, and later said flames were briefly observed, cutting its output capacity by 5.1 million cubic metres (mcm) per day.

On Thursday the separate Sleipner T processing platform also detected smoke in a switchboard room, although this had not affected output, Equinor said.

The company said the incidents did not appear to be linked.

Gas exports via the Sleipner Riser platform remained unaffected, a spokesperson said.

The Sleipner B production outage was scheduled to last until Monday, although the duration remains subject to change, Norway’s gas export system operator Gassco has said.

Norway’s overall planned exports for Friday stood at 322.3 mcm, Gassco data showed.
