UK’s Trainline raises full-year forecast on strong demand

(Reuters) -British rail ticketing company Trainline raised its full-year revenue forecast on Monday for the second time in less than two months, encouraged by a strong start to the second half of the year.

Trainline said it now expects annual revenue to grow 11%-13%, up from an earlier view of top end of 7%-11% range, while core earnings to be about 2.6% of net ticket sales from its prior forecast of it to exceed 2.5%.

The company, which sells tickets on behalf of all UK rail companies and major European rail firms, had said in early September that it was trading ahead of expectation for the first-half ended August, with strong demand from its customers. It had noted a jump in ticket sales in Spain.

Trainline on Monday also lifted its net ticket sales growth outlook to 12%-14%, from top end of 8% to 12% range it had guided last month.
