BEIJING (Reuters) -China has banned the direct and indirect import of ruminants and related products from Liechtenstein due to an outbreak of bluetongue disease, the General Administration of Customs said on its website on Tuesday.
The move follows an Oct. 28 report from Liechtenstein to the World Organisation for Animal Health after three cases were found in the country, customs said in an announcement dated Nov. 8.
China has also banned such imports from North Macedonia, Italy, Iraq, Belgium and the Netherlands after outbreaks of the virus. The disease, whose symptoms also include fever and mouth ulcers, can be highly dangerous to sheep and cows.
