MILAN (Reuters) – Marcus Johannes Chromik, an independent member of UniCredit’s board and member of its Risk Committee, has resigned from the board with immediate effect, Italy’s second-largest lender said on Wednesday.
Chromik has declared that his decision was due to new professional ventures, UniCredit said in a statement.
Before joining UniCredit, the German-born executive held several roles at Commerzbank, including member of the management board, chief risk officer and responsible for risk management and compliance.
UniCredit in September snapped up a stake in Germany’s Commerzbank and Italy’s No. 2 bank has been pressing for a tie-up since, in a move that has triggered opposition among Germany’s establishment.
