Opinions of the Day: Zuma gives SA the middle finger

“…his particular brand of toxic narcissism was on peak display in Nkandla on Sunday night.” Those are the words of Rob Rose, Financial Mail editor, as he opines on former president Jacob Zuma – who on Sunday evening addressed scores of supporters who flocked to Nkandla and flouted Level 4 restrictions on gathers. Rose delivers a scathing verdict of Zuma’s behaviour and called him a “pathological narcissist” with a “profound inability to take responsibility for anything, a startling immunity from reason, and Olympic-level hypocrisy.”

Political commentator Justice Malala said it was time to put an end to the pandering to the “Nkandla cry-baby”. In his weekly Sunday Times Select column, Malala cautions us that Zuma is always ready to moan and groan and find the loophole he needs to get out of his various sticky situations. “If this pattern does not stop Zuma will destroy whatever semblance of the rule of law there is left in our country,” writes Malala.
